Judges Report Standard Championship Class held on Tuesday 16th
August 2005. By Amanda Rodgers

Round 1 Jumping Course
A flowing course with turns and longer distances was set to start the championship off to a flying start. The main area of concern turned out to be the after exiting the cloth tunnel and clearing the wall. The class was won by Lesley Olden and Waggerland Wow of Nedlo in a time of 29.192 secs.
There were 16 clear rounds in total.

Round 2 Agility Course
Another flowing course was set with sections that required the handlers to watch carefully what their dogs were doing to avoid losing them to the wrong obstacle. David Munnings and Mister Billy Whizz were first in a time of 33.633 secs.

The Final
18 competitors reached the final, 50% of the total entries. Public announcements were made to draw spectators to the ring. Graham Partridge used commentary cards to give up to date information of the competitors and who was leading as the competition progressed. First to run was Kathy Knapper who had a pole down at No. 6. Alison Martin followed and was eliminated when her dog failed to jump the wall. Helen Murphy should not have watched Alison for her dog too failed to jump the wall. The first clear round was Jackie Gardiner and Touchandgo Glen Boy in 33.612 secs, a challenge was now set. Clive Snook and his excitable dog Designer Diesel Blue took the lead from Jackie when he was clear in 33.378 secs. Dave Howard and Mary Ray both failed to trouble the leader when they made errors by back jumping No. 11 and gaining a refusal 3 obstacles from the end respectively. Christine Wingate-Wynne and her dog Woodsorrel Drives Me Nuts gave a cracking performance to secure the lead in a time of 33.174 secs, a lead she was to hold on to for some time. The challenge was now on and the remaining handlers knew there was no hanging about and had to get every split second out of their dogs if they were to win the class. Alan Gardner collected 10 faults trying, Alan Bray came close with a clear round in 33.256 secs. Elaine Auty was motoring when her dog took the wrong course. Will Rolfe attacked the course but missed out on time, he was clear in 33.297 secs. Chris Cole and his dog Magic Charmer had a fantastic clear round with very sharp turns and fast contacts but he also missed out on time. He was clear in 33.185 secs. Thank goodness for electronic timing! Due to a 'senior' moment early in the course when he lost his way Terry Insull was down on time but clear. Amanda Pigg was fast and furious but unfortunately picked up faults on the A frame four from the end. Sue Rolfe showed the time could be beaten when she completed the course in 32.298 secs but again a contact (Dog Walk) was missed. With only two dogs remaining Christine was getting excited but knew it could be all lost with the quality that was to run. David Munnings certainly showed a cool head on young shoulders. His clear round was excellent and in a time of 32.573 secs he took the lead. Lesley Olden was last to run and it wasn't all over yet. By the time she came over the A frame, four obstacles from the end, she was well up on time. After the next obstacle she failed to give the dog a turning command and he went the wrong way and this lost her the seconds she needed to take the class. She was clear in 33.612 secs. Congratulations to Mister Billy Whizz and David Munnings his second win in Championship, it won't be long before you get your third. Well done to Christine Wingate-Wynne for taking the reserve.
